What to do in the first week.
This is what we tell people on the phone before they have decided whether to hire anyone. It is useful whether you call us or not.

01 Photograph everything
Six things worth doing
01
Photograph everything, today
The scene changes. Skid marks fade, a rail gets fixed, a wet floor dries. A timestamped photo is worth more than a description given six months later.
02
Get the report number
Not the report. The number. You are entitled to it, it is usually available within days, and it is the fastest way for anyone to find your case.
03
See a doctor even if you feel fine
Adrenaline hides soft tissue and head injury for days. A gap before the first medical record is the first thing an adjuster points at.
04
Write down what you remember tonight
Memory for sequence degrades fastest. What you write on day one, in your own words, is evidence. What you recall eight months later is testimony.
05
Keep every receipt and every day off
Mileage, prescriptions, the shift you could not take. All recoverable, and almost nobody keeps them.
06
Tell your own insurer, briefly
You usually have a contractual duty to report. Report the fact of it. You are not obliged to narrate it.
Three things worth avoiding
None of these are obligations you owe the other side.

Tell us what happened
Free, and it stays free unless we recover money for you.
Or call (415) 555 0148. We answer, or we call back the same working day.
